How Employee Ownership Helps Kinase Win at AI
AI adoption needs enthusiastic, unified engagement across a business. That’s what Employee Ownership powers for Kinase.
By now everyone is well aware of the hype around AI. How can something so disruptive and exciting also be getting a bit boring already?
One reason is the disconnect between AI’s potential, and what’s actually getting implemented at a practical level.
There’s an element of boiling frog. With Gemini, Google have rolled out so many features that would have been mind blowing 3 years ago so smoothly that we already take them for granted. Automated call transcripts, document creation and bespoke images for my presentations? Yawn - got anything new?
But what’s holding back a greater level of AI innovation within the workplace? Sure, it’s a new, slightly complicated discipline to learn and everyone’s busy already - but that’s nothing new.
The big blocker is that people are scared if it. And rightly so. How many company owners want to use AI to empower their staff and unleash their creativity? And how many just want to use it to save money by training an AI to replace them? It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to find examples of companies doing just that - and AI adoption has only just begun. So why would any workforce actively conspire in their own replacement by helping adopt AI tools that can do parts of their job?

“How many company owners want to use AI to empower their staff and unleash their creativity?”
That’s where Kinase has a super power. Because we are employee owned, our team can be confident that the benefits of AI adoption will accrue to them and our clients - not to shareholders or private equity at their expense.
And that is what’s so exciting.
AI is going to do so much more than just offload the routine parts of our jobs.
That’s an essential first step of course. Reducing time spent on rote tasks where we don’t add much value does three things:
Free up time to spend on the strategy tasks where we add a lot of value and client performance really benefits
Become familiar with how to get the most out of AI tools by developing and deploying them in simple tasks
Use the combination of more time and better skills to start really innovating with AI!
The agencies, and the individuals who can harness the power of AI will thrive. They will be able to add more value, and deliver better performance outcomes for their clients than those who do not and fall very quickly into obsolescence.
But it’s those companies that can give their employees a stake in unlocking the benefits of AI that will be most successful. Those that cannot take employees on a journey with them, seeing AI as an opportunity, not a threat, will find legitimate resistance very hard to overcome.
